After a very ordinary week at work, it was great to help out the soul band that I play with, Shake Rattle & Soul to record some trumpet overlays for the demo CD that they're currently working on.
Matt Reay, the band's lead guitarist, has his own studio in his bedroom. We spent an hour or so recording the trumpet parts for "I feel good", "Higher and higher", and a few other numbers.
It was great fun, and good to get it over with so quickly, it was really hot in that bedroom!
Oh, and Matt's just changed his profile on Facebook to say that he's now "deaf from trumpet" - so who's fault is that then...?
Here's a couple of snaps from the evening's session. More (and hopefully better ones!) to come!
Tomorrow will be spent at the stag party for Stuart Paul, an old buddy from my college days. Karting and drinking is the order of the day - can't wait!
Have a great weekend all!
Dear Steve,
I have been scouring the globe for a trumpet player worthy of filling my shoes, and having perused your excellent and informative website, I have come to the conclusion that clearly you are the man for the job. We are currently touring Australia and would love for you to come out and audition at the Opera House in Sydney next week. Do you think this would be possible? Of course we will pay all your expenses for travel, food and accomodation. All pieces are to be played on the Bb trumpet and the list of repertoire is as follows:
Bob the Builder, Coronation Street, The Tweenies and Rainbow. We have picked this last one in tribute to your being A MASSIVE GAYLORD!!!!! Look forward to hearing from you, lots of love Maurice.
P.S. Rod sends lots of kisses and says he wants your botty for fat ginger sex.
